Oliva - Fresh Italiana Flavor

April 26, 2018 2 Comments
My craving for Italian food was satisfied here. This is a small place in Vile Parle with 3 tables inside and a few outside.

Staff - There were only two people - one taking order and the other at the counter who was managing most of things from taking calls, billing, supporting the home delivery guys and at times taking order too. He was courteous and helped us with good recommendation.

Order delivery time - The delivery time for the orders placed was poor. The reason could be lot of home delivery orders but that doesn't mean you keep the customers at the store waiting. We had to wait a bit more than regular time. There was only one table being occupied other than ours.

We ordered the below things -
A) Garlic bread and cheesy chicken - Awesome! It was spicy with delicious chicken topped with cheese. Loved it!

Garlic bread and cheesy chicken

B) Penne Pesto pasta - Amazing pesto pasta with moderate chicken pieces. We wanted to have few veggies along with the chicken but that was chargeable that too any one veggie in that price. We weren't aware of this and had ordered for two veggies, the fellow in the counter was courteous and added two veggies at the price of one 😊 So,  I had both our favorite mushrooms and broccoli.

C) Frappe - This was ok nothing extraordinary. Though they took time to get it.

Frappe

Pocket friendly price, tiny place but has decent food to suffice your Italian taste buds. Yes, definitely needs to have patience. Definitely worth a try if not visiting the place, you can order it for home delivery through various food ordering apps.

Hoppipola - Khar

April 22, 2018 0 Comments
Friends reunion along with birthday bash had to be special. How could we settle for something that isn't the best for the special times, it had to be the place of good times - Hoppipola.

My gang playing zenga

Hoppipola Decor - Khar
Situated in one of the buzzing areas of Khar where you have so many options to look out for. It being Sunday, we didn't want to be amongst those who have to wait for some place so we reserved our seats in advance.

A beautiful place with spectacular ambiance. The lighting, seating, decor everything was perfect. Music was good and so was the staff. You will also find games like uno, ludo, zenga etc. to spend good time.

Let's jump to our main focus - drinks & food
A) Drinks
a) Tower - If you are a huge gang then the best option is to go for tower which was served in a barrel(made us feel like the pirates 😜)

Tower
b) Blood bank - Barcardi mixed with cranberry, pomegranate juice. Well! To be honest we didn't order this. It looked very fascinating so just clicked a picture(maybe you can try and let me know😊)

Blood Bank
B) Food
a) Hoppi fried chicken - Chicken crispy bites for the initial mood riser. Perfect munching!

Hoppi fried chicken
b) Cheesy nachos avalanche with chicken - A great combination of nachos loaded with chicken and cheese. The quantity though was ok and taste was fine.

Now, that the hunger monster is come alive, it's time for the amazing platters to serve the hungry souls 😈
c) Chicken chatter platter - Combination of hoppi fried chicken(good crispy chicken as I mentioned above), old monk chicken wings(amazingly blended with old monk that it was tasting just Wow!), chicken sukka(typical South Indian taste👍🏻), chicken trilogy(skewers were ok).

Chicken chatter platter
d) Mixed Meat Desi chatter platter - Combination of chicken tikka(ok), mutton seekh kebab(recommended), southern spiced crispy prawns(good), Amritsari fish fingers(ok)

Mixed meat Desi chatter platter
In short, we tasted most of their starter menu 😅

Last to top it all, we went for piizzzaaaaaa 😋
e) Jerk chicken pizza - spiced chicken with jalapeños and bell peppers. It had a think crust which made it better in taste.

Jerk chicken pizza
All this delicious food, good music and games with amazing company called for a night to cherish forever. It was late night yet didn't feel like leaving this place. Towards the end DJ played nice songs that we couldn't stop ourselves from shaking our legs a bit before we signed off from the place.

I would surely call it Happy pola (which means going in tulu) for the mind-blowing time we had here!

The Bar Stock Exchange - Kurla

April 18, 2018 0 Comments
It's all about the stocks here! The prices of drinks rises and falls similar to stock market. This place is situated in Equinox amidst the corporate offices. A decent place with decent crowd.

Ambiance - We happened to visit this place on Sunday to watch the IPL match and have a good time. We weren't disappointed as we got our corner near the screen to see the match inside. They also have an open area outside if you wish to feel the climate.
I personally felt Sakinaka more happening than this place.

Staff - Not that great or friendly. We had to call the waiter and then wait for him to come even when it wasn't much crowded.

We ordered two things -
1) XXX Fries - A combination of three fries (plain and simple, peri peri and cheese seasoning) with a Mayo dip. It was nice and is one of the best and safest option.

XXX Fries

2) Thai Basil Chicken - This is kind of chicken chilly. Little gravy, nice yummy chicken pieces, some capsicum. Yum yum :)

Thai Basil Chicken

Since the waiter doesn't come on time, also the prices on the screen changes pretty soon - install their app to be on the winning side (just to save some penny :) ). And they have a new app 'TBSE 2.0' so please don't see the older one. Overall a decent place to go, I would like to visit this place again.

Help yourself this summer!

April 16, 2018 0 Comments
It is that time of the year which most of us hate. Sun shines brightly with its full power to exhaust us to the core but we shouldn't give up. Instead be power-packed to show our resistance.

Summer Tips

So are you guys up for it? No, then here you go with quick tips to beat the heat -

1. Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!
It being the hottest time, you are ought to sweat a lot. As you perspire a lot during this time, you should keep yourself well hydrated. Drink lots of water so that you don't get dehydrated. Carry bottles if possible to quench your thirst at any point of time. You can also help others in case anyone feels thirsty and needs a bit of water. Also be kind and show some mercy towards the birds, animals and keep water to help them. We, humans can speak but these poor creatures can't so let's help them too.

Hydrate - drink water

2. Eat healthy
Avoid spicy, oily food during summer to keep your body cool. The temperature outside is already very hot for you to vouch on such unhealthy food. Instead go for smoothies, coolers, fresh fruits (especially melons) etc. Drinking plenty of water keeps our tummy a little occupied so go for lighter food to make you feel better. This is also the best time enjoy your favorite ice-creams, lollies, popsciles to beat the heat.
Keep a glucose powder or glucovita bolts(these are new in the market) in your bag in case you are among the ones who can't stay the heat strokes.

Healthy watermelon juice

3. Exercise Smart
Why smart? As this is the time, you easily sweat so opt for a perfect time to avoid sun stroke at the same time complete your regime.

  • Avoid heavy workouts
  • Go for indoor activities
  • Go swimming (best way choice!)
4. Protect your skin
You can go for lighter clothes that cover your body. You can use caps, hats, umbreallas, stolls, cotton jackets, etc. to cover yourself. Sun glasses are the best to protect your eyes from the harmful rays(choose glasses that filter the UV rays and makes your eyes feel cooler)
Do not leave your house without using the sunscreen lotion as they protect your skin from the harmful rays(use a lotion of at least SPF 15) that blocks the UV radiations. Do not spend much time in the hot sun between 11 am to 4 pm IST. If your work  includes spending time outdoor than keep the sunscreen lotion handy and re-apply 2-3 times to avoid sun burn or tan.
Carry face mist or wet tissue if possible to soothe your face whenever you feel it is too hot for you to handle the heat. Go light - avoid heavy make-up. You can apply cold compresses, apply chilled aloe vera gel twice daily to give that soothing effect.

Sunscreen Lotion with SPF

5. Get Wet
After a scotching day, it feels good to have a nice shower and get into your comfortable clothes in the house. Cold showers are essential because they protect the skin. They clean the dirt from our skin which gets oily and dusty during the day. Thus, preventing from tan, sun burns, acne breakouts, heat rashes, blemishes and much more which are common in heat and humidity.

Be gentle on yourself during summer. Keep these tips in mind and imbibe them in your lifestyle. Just like I mentioned help yourself this summer as the heat is increasing with each passing year. Also be  kind and merciful on the other living creatures like plants, animals and birds.

Little House - Versova

April 12, 2018 0 Comments
As the name suggests 'Little House' is a very beautiful little place situated in Yari Road, Versova. It is lush green with a little bungalow in the center and decor all around. They usually rent this place for various events, workshops like house party, yoga sessions, crafts and arts classes, open mic story telling etc.  If you are looking out for a beautiful place for party with eye-catchy ambiance then this is it!

Little House

This place was basically a very pleasant surprise for me which was really the best one so far. We happened to visit this place for an open air screening of IPL match between MI vs CSK. This event  hosted by PlayAce and the host Shrinivas Shinde was very friendly and courteous. He & his team made us feel like home. If you are the one who wants to enjoy watching match in your own comfort zone then you should watch out for them. They had bean bags, beds, pillows, chairs, benches to seat. You could occupy anything where you can make yourself comfortable. They do charge per person but it is worth because you don't just get to watch the match but you can also play if you feel you could have played better than the cricketers :P I really mean it when I say this, they had few games arranged for us which we could play in between the ads or strategic time out. It included few match predictions which made it more fun along with other mini games like dart games, XOs, cricket & few other games. Of course, if you win, there are goodies to be won!

Biggest MI Supporter

What about my tummy?
Well, they allow you not only to get your own food but also booze(what else one could ask for). We don't get such liberty even when we go to Wankhede Stadium. I know it is all together a difference experience there but this is also a different experience if you are the one who are looking for a change. There's a home chef too who serve few munchies like popcorn, parathas etc. at a reasonable price. You are also allowed to order food from outside & they deliver it here. People had ordered Domino's pizza, other stuff from near by places. We missed to notice this seekh paratha place right opposite this place so you can opt for that as well which we noticed later.

Food and Booze

Booze you are free to take what you want. They arranged glasses, ice buckets for storing your drinks where you are seated. They also had another box where you could use those ice cubes for your drink. Only thing you need to keep in mind is to drink responsibly & behave oneself. Respect the property too so that you maintain the beauty of this place for others to witness the same.

Little House, Versova

I fell in love with this place because of the vibrant colors, beautiful decor, clean latrines(a must for a hygiene freak like me) and many other reasons. This is definitely going to be one of my favorites for house party if I want to host any with my close family and friends for the perfect evening to be cherished for lifetime :)

Flavour and Spice - Fine Dine Restaurant

April 07, 2018 0 Comments
Matunga Gymkhana is one of the famous place all the college goers of nearby area would be well versed with. Only to one's stupefaction would they be aware that there's a nice restaurant inside the gymkhana. Yes, my friends you heard it right for all those who are questioning themselves on the fact. But it's absolutely fine, if you were not aware of it like me because it is only meant for people who have exclusive membership of Matunga Gymkhana.

I visited this place with a colleague as her guest. It's a nice place with good seating arrangement (except for the fact that they don't let you adjust table even if you are a larger group & wish to sit together still wondering why they didn't allow?) Apart from this found the staff very courteous.

Let's jump to food -
1. Rumali Papad - This was huge rumali papad which was too addictive.

2. Murgh Sholay kebab - Amazing to taste. Ordered it twice.

3. Mixed grill chicken platter - It had an assortment of various chicken dishes from pahadi to tikka to leg piece etc.

4. Fish Koliwada (Pomfret) - Fresh and crisp to taste.
5. Veg Dum Biryani - Had good masala served with yummy raita.

6. Caramel custard - Mouth watering. With good amount of caramel which is usually missing at other places.

7. Brownie with vanilla ice cream - Perfect end with this amazing dessert.

I would definitely suggest this but then the only problem is you'll have to hunt for someone who has a membership so that they accompany you. Price wise too it was ok not overly priced. Best option for people staying in the same vicinity provided the membership.

Cooking Fever

April 02, 2018 1 Comments
After writing a few reviews on mouth watering food, I realized that the real magic comes from the person who has cooked it. "Eating is a necessity but cooking is an art". It has been years that we have been enjoying the delicious food made by our mothers, spouses, chefs & the list goes on. Seldom we realize, how they cook. It is said that real cooking is more about following your heart than following the recipes but then in today's fast paced world, we are more dependent on other sources in order to learn this art.

Cooking is like love

I recently happened to watch this amazing Marathi movie 'Gulabjaam' & it really impressed me with it's story on how a successful banker(Siddharth Chandekar) working abroad leaves his job to find way for his passion. He reaches Pune to his friend's place where he tastes a sweet made by his friend's tiffin service cook. The sweet dish makes him nostalgic. He is hell bound in learning to cook from this lady(Sonali Kulkarni). He leaves no stone upturned & makes all the efforts to learn cooking from her. She has a different story where she happens to loose her memory except for the art of cooking which helps her to keep going in life. After crossing all the hurdles in his life personally & professionally, he still doesn't give up on his passion. Having successfully learnt the art of cooking, he flies abroad & opens his own restaurant so that he can spread the happiness to others which comes from amazing food. Gulabjaam is a movie which teaches us ‘to follow your dreams and see what they lead you to.’ A must watch!

Gulabjaam
I will always be a foodie by choice because I have the best cook around me. We must really appreciate them for the amazing food that they serve us especially our mothers. They cook for us with so much love that your mouth won't stop watering. So at times, we should show them some gratitude. It is not their duty to cook but they do it lovingly for us. Nothing can stop them from cooking that special dish for us when we feel like having one. Even if they are sick, they will still fulfill your wish & stop your craving. Therefore, least we can do is appreciate & show some love and praise them for what they do selflessly.
